(This is a repost from my My Space blog)
I am an I/R author, a friend brought this issue up. Where are all the Interracial Romances? Why does the publishing industry not focus as much on Interracial or I/R books? Why do readers have to go on a scavenger hunt for books of this genre? Where are all the Interracial Romances? Where are the paperback books that deal with this subject? Why do readers have to order an I/R book online when they can't find them in their library or local book store?
Why all the secrecy? I understand that now there is a demand for more I/R, but does this mean that readers will see more I/R books in paperback? Ebooks address the issue but it's not as focused upon as say, Paranormal or Vampire/Werewolf or Contemporary.
We have authors who write I/R, we know they are out there. But where is the focus? Where is the push? Where is the I/R? Reader who love this genre can find it frustrating that the limited amount of books or ebooks is dedicated to this topic. Is the problem not with the publishing industry but with the readers? Are there not enough readers demanding I/R books?
What do we as readers and authors, who love I/R have to do to get more I/R out there? I'd love your thoughts on this issue. Am I wrong? Am I right? Come guys, sound off and let your thoughts be heard.
