Quick Note:

A bit of news first: Changeling has contracted two books: At Drogan's Command and With His Mind. Once I have the released dates, I'll let you know.

I decided to show you how the first time Sebastian was summoned to the mortal dimension, instead of showing you the binding. We'll get back to that once we delve into Sebastian's stay in the mortal realm a bit. :-)

18 years ago . . .

Mr. Humphreys stared at the scrawny demon before him. Glossy ink black hair hung down his shoulders, skin like white marble. His clothes seemed too big for his body. He looked enveloped in his white dress shirt and black pants. Mr. Humphreys shook his head.
“This can’t be,” he muttered. “I summoned a demon from the sixth dimension.”
He began to pace, frame taunt with agitation. He ran a hand over his face and glanced back, desperation sung through him. This so called powerful demon, the one that no one should summon, had to fix things. He just had to. Lea was growing like a wildfire. Instead of a normal one year old, she was the size of five year old. He’d had to hire a special doctor just to make sure that she was healthy. And just like her size, her intelligence grew. It seemed like every day she grew another inch, increased an IQ point.
His wife refused to see the problem. She had the perfect family, as much money as she could spend and a lifestyle most people only dreamed about. Every other day it seemed she was brushing shoulders the powerful and wealthy. She didn’t care.
“How old are you?” Mr. Humphrey’s finally asked the demon.
The boy, that was the only thing Mr. Humphreys’ could call him, raised his head, green-gold eyes glittered as secrets and ancient knowledge swirled in those orbs. Mr. Humphreys swallowed and started again.
“How old are?”
“Old enough to know when someone who is too weak summons me,” he replied. The voice that came out of the demon’s body was no boy’s. It was man’s; a deep rich baritone, with an edge of roughness.
Mr. Humphrey’ swallowed again.
“I need you to fix something. One of your kind . . . he impregnated my wife, the child . . . the child is unnatural.”
“How so?” The demon’s head was tilted to the side in interest.
Mr. Humphrey’s beckoned him toward the window. The summoning circle had been broken a while ago. Powder was scattered everywhere. The candles were melted piles of wax, the room was a mess. At first Mr. Humphrey’s had felt that something had gone terribly wrong but when the small demon had shown up, he knew it had gone right, very right, until the demon’s size had registered with him. He looked like a ten year old with long ink black hair and pale skin. His gaunt frame was covered in clothing that seemed to belong to times gone by where people still rode horses to get around and used ships to travel across bodies of water and electricity hadn’t even been invented yet.
Mr. Humphrey’s watched with apprehension as the demon strode forward. His bare feet padded softly across the wooden floor. His head was bowed, as if he was watching his steps. Mr. Humphrey’s pulled back a curtain and gestured outside.
“There, there is my problem,” he pointed.
The demon stood a foot away from him but Mr. Humphreys’ could sense the contained power emanating from him. It was chaotic and controlled, overwhelming, intoxicating and deadly. Mr. Humphreys was almost swept away. This demon was unlike any he had ever summoned before.
“The child? Is there a problem with the child?”
“Yes, yes,” Mr. Humphreys turned his head to look outside. “She is, ill. I need her fixed. I need her well.”
Mr. Humphreys’ had no desire to explain.
“Is that all? You summoned me here to heal her?” The demon sounded infuriated.
“No, of course not, but that’s a start. I’m willing to pay you, anything you want.”
Silence. Mr. Humphrey’s shifted from one foot to the other, waiting. His heart threatened to beat out of his chest. Finally the demon spoke again.
“What else is it you wish of me?”
“I have heard the demons of the sixth dimension are musically gifted.”
“You wish for this gift?”
“No . . . wait, just heal her and I’ll tell you more.”
The demon’s shoulders sagged as if weary.
“Fine, take me to her but do not let me see her.”
Mr. Humphreys felt at ease finally after a year of worrying, his problem with Lea would be fixed soon. Mr. Humphreys lead the demon outside the house using the backstairs. In the garden, they hid behind a tall tree. Lea’s laughter floated toward them, the sound chilling Mr. Humphreys.
The demon started to mutter. Waves of his power rolled over Mr. Humphreys causing him to gasp and air refused to be sucked into his lungs. The world became dim. His heart felt as if it was about to burst and then the feelings ceased.
“It is done now take me inside and tell me more of your will.”
Mr. Humphreys sighed in relief and lead the demon back toward the house. One problem down, one more wish to go. He grinned. He was about to trap a demon of the sixth dimension to do his bidding.

Sebastian’s body rung like a bell after having been struck from the sight of Lea. He felt warmth spread through him and sense of calmness settle over him. It was as if his soul was finally at peace looking at the little girl. He sensed in her something ancient and yet whole human, he was intrigued. Perhaps I shall stay in this human dimension for longer than I thought.
