It was a beautiful day on Orion Delta 5. The view out the window was gorgeous. The sun shone in the pale blue-purple sky as wispy white clouds moved slowly across the heavens. A few hover-trucks made their way overhead as people walked along the busy sidewalks below, toward their destinations.

And Stacia Allen was about to be late. “Where the hell is it?” She searched frantically through the piles of discarded clothes, managing to find her blouse, skirt, stockings, shoes and panties. She was only missing her bra. She pushed away the pile of men’s clothing and groaned in irritation. She stood and looked around the bedroom. Her eyes landed on the sleeping man on the bed. His pale blond hair spread across the navy blue and silver pillow, one tanned arm thrown across his forehead.

It had all happened so fast last night. One second they were celebrating getting the Olsen Metallic account, the next she and Jason were in a cab with his hand up her skirt. In the elevator he’d pressed her against the back wall and kissed her passionately. They’d finished in his bedroom where he tried to fuck her senseless. Now it was morning and back to reality where she had to go into work and act like she hadn’t been sleeping with the boss for the past three months.

She scanned the bedroom until she finally spotted the red lace of her bra on a bookshelf near the doorway. She walked over to grab the lingerie, ready to stuff it in her purse, when she felt, rather than heard, him behind her. He wrapped his arms around her waist and nuzzled the crook of her neck.

“Morning,” Jason greeted her, his deep baritone sending shivers up and down her spine, and tingles to her pussy. Her body began to heat up.

She shook her head. She couldn’t afford to be late. She had an important client meeting. A quick glance at the clock told her she only had an hour and a half. “I can’t stay. I’ve got Mercer coming in to discuss his account with me.” She tried to tug his hands free from around her waist but he wouldn’t let go. She looked down at her mocha skin against his tanned flesh; they made an exotic contrast. Memories of the night before, him underneath her as she rode him into ecstasy, filled her mind. She bit down on her lip hard to keep focused.

“You can reschedule. Come on, I need you again.” He ground his hardened cock against her ass. She clenched her thighs in an attempt to stave off the dull ache of her sex but it wasn’t working. Her body felt tight. Her breasts ached to feel his callused palms upon them.

“Jason, we can’t do this now. You’ve got meetings too. Please let me go.”

He swore. “I can’t keep doing this with you,” Jason stated, pulling away from her.

“Jason, can we talk about this later? I have to get home to get showered, changed and back to work before Mercer arrives. I’ll cook dinner and we’ll have a movie night. Okay? Bye.” She jumped away from him, grabbed her clothes and rushed into the living room where she paused just long enough to get dressed as best she could and call a cab. If he was going to end it with her, she wanted to have time to process it and then give him her response. She did not want to have their “break-up” on her mind when she was supposed to be dealing with a big name client.

Excerpt:
Devlin stared at the calendar and took another sip of coffee. He shuddered at the bitterness of the java. Putting the mug down he closed his eyes. Letting out a growl of frustration he put his feet back down on the floor and stood up. He began pacing, trying to think of something, anything. A thought occurred to him and he groaned aloud. “Fuck, why didn’t I think of that before. I’m such a fucking moron.”
“We knew that Dev. Glad you finally figured it out.” Marsh began to laugh. Grinning, Devlin turned to his friend.
“I finally know what to do for Hayley. I’m going to give her an entire day. I’m going to blow off all our assignments and do everything that she wants to do. She’s been so tired lately, all those damn tests the government is putting her through. She needs a day to herself to recover. I’m going to take her away, to my mom’s old place, out past the city limits, to the lake.”
“Wow, you thought of all that by yourself. I’m impressed.”
“Shut up you. You’re in charge while we’re gone. You handle all the clients and run the office. Don’t screw up.”
“You got it, man. You and Hayley have fun. Don’t worry about a thing.”
Devlin started to walk away when he heard Marshall say, “I wonder how he would feel if I reorganized his desk.”
“Don’t you dare touch anything.”
“Yeah, sure, Dev, you got it. Question, how do you feel about pink?”

Excerpt:
Any minute now, Rysen’s heart was going to burst through his chest. Never in his life had he waited so long to go after a woman or been so afraid of the consequences. His spies had reported her every movement, every like and dislike. He knew practically everything about her, and yet it wasn’t enough. He wanted the woman herself to tell him all her secrets. Kit was a decadent treat he couldn’t wait to taste and savor.

There was an innocence and purity about her. He wanted to be careful, to hold his darker tastes back. Tonight he would seduce her, show her the delights that he, and only he, could offer her.

“So tell me, Sen, what do you have planned for me tonight? It is traditional to give the newly inducted a gift after six months of being part of vampyre society.” There was heat in her dark brown eyes. Her gaze stoked the fire burning within him.

The carriage felt too small, the enclosed space was like a furnace. He swallowed as his cock twitched. “I have several things planned to help you celebrate your induction. You just have to trust me. Can you do that?”

He waited for her response, excitement pumping through his veins. The games were really about to begin.

“Yes, I can do that. Could you please take off the mask?” She gave him a hopeful look and he shifted in his seat, the leather creaking with his movement.

He smiled at her and shook his head.

“I wish to see your face. I wish to know what you look like.”

He shook his head again. “No. This is part of the present I give to you. Tonight, you must trust me. Do you trust me?”

He watched her face. Emotions moved and swirled in her eyes, but he saw no doubts or hesitations, much to his relief. He had to play his part, and he would play it in full tonight.
“All right. I trust you, Sen. I put myself in your hands.” She leaned forward, giving him the perfect view of her cleavage. “Now give me my present.”

He swallowed. His plan was now tilting on its axis as she stared up at him. “Present?”

Kit nodded. “Present. I want my present now. Make me forget about what I have to go back to when morning comes. I don’t want to think about suitors or men who may or may not be interested in me.”

Rysen felt his control slipping from his hands as he gazed into her eyes. He needed to regain his composure fast. “I promise you, I will make you forget every last one of them.”

He brought his head down until their lips were only a few millimeters apart. “First, I plan on kissing you slowly. If you’ll allow me, I plan on undressing you, exploring this beautiful body with my mouth and hands. Do you like the sound of that?”

He waited for her answer. His heart was pounding so hard he was afraid it would burst through his rib cage. He had to tread slowly. Rysen was very sure she had never experienced anyone like him. He didn’t want to scare her or make her uncomfortable. Besides, he was in enough trouble as it was with Jessye.

Ignoring the demand of his body to close the distance and kiss her, drag her toward him, and feel her curves against him, Rysen watched her reaction to his words. His cock and fangs throbbed with need. He didn’t want to just taste her blood; he wanted to fuck her until she screamed. Clearing his thoughts, he took in a deep breath and waited for her response.

It didn’t take long. She brought her face closer to his and brushed her lips against his, once, twice, three times. The slight contact fired his blood. Growling, he took hold of her head and held it still. He kissed her with passion, nipping her bottom lip and sucking the plump flesh into his mouth.

His fangs burst forth, pain shot through his mouth, but he didn’t care; the thudding of his heart against his rib cage, the silken feel of her hair against his palms, the light vanilla scent of her were all he knew. Rysen bit down, his fangs sank into her lip, and her blood spilled into his mouth.
In the back of his mind he cautioned himself not to take too much of her blood, only a small taste. Too much would bind them together. He didn’t want that just yet. Closing his eyes, he lost himself in the salty, sweet taste of her. Inhaling deeply, he let himself drown in the musky perfume of her arousal.

Her soft cry made his groin tighten. His heart pounded against his chest as need surged through his veins. He sucked harder, drinking more of her blood into his mouth. The fiery liquid rushed over his taste buds. The sweet elixir was the thing that broke him.

He growled again. He used his vampyric quickness and strength to push her against the opposite seat. His body pressed hers into the cushions. Her hands clutched his biceps, her nails dug into the silk-covered flesh. That was all it took to regain his control. Swearing, he pulled back. He licked the last drop of her blood off his lips and bowed his head. “I’m sorry, Kit. I truly am. I lost myself.”

“Did I tell you to stop?” Her eyes flashed, glittering dangerously. She leaned forward, grabbed him by the lapels of his jacket, and pulled him to her.

Her strength surprised him. Then all his thoughts scattered when her breasts pressed against his chest.

He groaned. “I need to see you. I need to taste you.”

She let go of his lapels and untied the ribbon of her corset. He watched her hands deftly undo the silken strips, pulling the sides of the corset apart to reveal a camisole underneath. He let out a sound of frustration. “You women have far too much underclothing for my liking.”
Brushing aside her hands, he grabbed the delicate material and ripped it.

She gasped and then giggled. “You’re very eager, aren’t you?”

“To see and taste you? Yes, I’m more than eager.” He pushed the sides of the corset and camisole farther apart, exposing her small, high breasts. In the soft, golden light, her skin glowed. Her dark chocolate nipples beckoned to him. He lowered his head, swirling just the tip of his tongue around one dark brown areola. She squirmed underneath him; her hips ground against his. Her movements fanned the fire roaring through him. He could just imagine what it would be like to feel her body move underneath him as they made love.

He pulled his head back and blew, watching the tip tighten. Again, he circled the turgid peak before taking it between his teeth and sucking it into his mouth. Her moan inflamed him further. He ground his hips against her, but the friction was not enough. His cock pressed against his breeches, needing to be released.

He scraped a fang over her nipple. She gasped and shuddered beneath him. He transferred his attention to the other nipple. She buried her fingers into his hair, nails scraping his scalp as she held his head against her breast. Arching her back, she ground her hips harder against his. She moaned his name, and that nearly broke him.

The carriage rolled to a stop, and a moment later, there came a tap on the door. Releasing her nipple with a soft pop, he kissed his way upward until he reached her lips. He pressed his mouth to hers softly, then shrugged out of his jacket and handed it to her. “Put this on. I don’t want anyone to see your beautiful breasts but me.”

She laughed. “Possessive, aren’t we?”

“You don’t know how much. Now hurry,” he murmured. “I need you, and I can smell the intoxicating scent of your arousal.”

She took his coat and pulled it on, then buttoned it up with deft fingers. He pushed open the door and got out before turning and helping her down from the carriage. In the dim light of the carriage house, he could see her hair was mussed. The silver ribbon was threatening to escape, weaving through the waves and curls that fell around her shoulders. He reached out and tucked a few strands behind her ear, letting his fingers run over the delicate strands.

Rysen watched her body shudder, and smiled. Whatever happened this night, he knew this would bind them together. She had mesmerized him, intoxicated him, and he didn’t want to let go of her. But he had to remain in control. If what he had heard was true, and Ryu really had abandoned his clan, it could lead to an alliance between their two houses, despite Jessye’s obvious dislike of him. Rysen wanted Kit to be his consort. He couldn’t picture anyone else at his side but her.

Kit looked up at him, a question in her eyes. “Are you going to stand there and let me freeze?” Her lips curved into a smile, and for a moment, he was caught off guard. “If you’re not careful, I shall need help warming up.”

Reaching out, he cupped her cheek, and she turned toward his touch. He brushed his thumb over her plump lower lip. The flesh looked bruised. He preened at that. I will be her lover. No one else will be with her.

His stomach dropped at the thought, and a shiver raced up his spine. It felt almost as if someone were walking on his grave. Ignoring the sensation, he trailed his hand down, caressing her neck and shoulder, and let it glide down her arm to take hold of her hand. Their fingers threaded together. The feeling seemed honest and right, as if the world had fallen into place. Home.

“Come, darling; let’s go inside so I can warm you up properly.” His voice was surprisingly hoarse with emotion. He started to turn away and head to the door when she tugged on his arm.

“Is something wrong?” she asked.

He raised an eyebrow rose in question. “No, why?”

“Something happened between us, something I can’t name.” Her face scrunched in concentration.

“I’m not sure what you mean.” He knew he was lying, but to tell her what was on his mind would scare them both.

He turned and led her toward the door. Inside, the golden glow of the wall sconces led him upstairs and to his bedroom. He pushed open the door, pulled her inside, and then tugged her against his body. Using his mind, he closed the door and then wrapped his arms around her.

“Ready for your presents?”

With a thought, he lit the room. Candles flared to life and bathed them in a soft, warm light. She gasped and looked around her. Rose petals and candles were everywhere. Her eyes wide, she looked up at him. “Is this all for me?”

Guest Blogger- Jess Dee

Once again, thank you to Selena for inviting back to blog. I'm excited to be here, and to report that on the 20th of Jan the first book in an all new series, Circle of Friends, was released at Samhain.

Only Tyler was a book that refused to be shoved into the bottom drawer. No matter how many problems I faced with it, the characters kept yelling at me to write and then rewrite the story. I couldn't disappoint them.

It may have taken a year to complete, and then another year before it was published, but it was worth the wait. I adore this book and love all three of the main characters: Tyler, Katie and Steve.

Don't be misled. This is not a ménage. It's a classic love triangle. And all three characters are tortured by the decisions they inevitably have to make.

Could you do it? Could you choose between love and friendship?

ONLY TYLER

Circle of Friends - Book 1

Love...or friendship? Does she really have to choose?

Katelyn Rosewood is facing a moral dilemma, one that's six-foot-two, sexy as sin-and her fiancé's best friend. Katie spent a lot of time getting over Tyler Bonnard, but now that he's back in Sydney, he's turning her carefully reconstructed world upside down.

Her relationship with Steve Sommers may be short on heat and desire, but after Tyler left her two years before, she'll take security and solid friendship over wild passion any day. Except Tyler seems to have a good-if outrageous-explanation for why he's returned.

After a tragic family secret tore him out of Katie's life, Tyler is glad to be back with his two best friends. But one thing is out of place: Katie's in the wrong man's arms. And if her reaction to his return is any indication, she's not quite over him. Which could mean hope for Tyler, heartbreak for Steve...

And another devastating loss for Katie, who must choose between the man to whom she's committed her future, and the man who still holds her heart.

Warning: Keep a tissue or two handy while reading this book. While it does contain a few steamy love scenes, the rest of the story might just make you cry.

Only Tyler,

An Excerpt

"Katie, my sweet." Tyler draped an arm casually around her shoulders. "Steve over here insists he won the tennis match we played the month before I left. You and I both know he didn't even win a game, never mind the match. Could you please set the record straight?"

His arm sat like a branding iron around her neck. A few years back she would have welcomed its heat, gloried in it. Now it felt awkward, sinful almost. Fire shot through her, singeing her skin, as flesh touched flesh.

"Tennis match?" she asked, trying desperately not to stammer. She shouldn't be responding to him this way. Not now. Not after all this time, and especially not when she was engaged.

"Yeah, the one we played at the resort in Noosa. Remember?"

Her stomach lurched beneath her ribs. How could she forget? A month before Tyler left, the three of them had taken a week off work and gone away together. A farewell holiday, so to speak. A time that marked the end of her friendship with Tyler as she knew it, and the beginning of a whole new relationship.

"You talking about that farce of a game you played on the court next to the two hot women in bikinis?" she asked, coercing amusement into her tone. That match had been the turning point, and he knew it. Damn, why bring it up now?

She'd umpired the game. Watched every ball, every rally between the two men. Watched every step Tyler had taken, every forehand and backhand he'd belted across the net. Watched with a hunger that began as a craving for a taste of him and culminated in a burning need to make love to him. A fierce hunger that would not settle.

"There were half-naked women playing tennis? I don't recall that." Steve shut the fridge with a smile, and holding a carton of orange juice in his hand, used it to gesture at Tyler. "All I remember was nailing his ass to the floor with my killer serve."

"Yeah, right," Tyler scoffed. "The only thing you nailed that day was the babe in the black bikini."

"Please, mate. You should have given your game the same amount of attention as you gave the bikini. Maybe that way you would at least have scored a point."

Tyler grinned, and his arm tightened around her shoulders. "Oh I scored that day. Just ask your fiancée."

Her jaw dropped open. He did not just say that.

Did he?

"And plenty of satisfaction I got from it too," Tyler added.

A startled gasp escaped her chest. In front of Steve? He was joking about their sex games in front of her fiancé?

Tyler pressed his hip against her waist, sending surges of goose bumps scuttling up her side. "Didn't I, Katie?"

With a single thrust of his hips, he buried himself inside her. Her inner walls contracted at the sheer pleasure of the tight fit, and then relaxed to take him deeper.

He growled. "If I didn't feel this insane pressure to pull out and drive into you again, I'd say this was the most satisfying experience of my life."

She turned her head and gaped at him. How dare he?

"Now don't look at me like that," he chastised. "You umpired the game. You know full well I beat him fair and square. You even laughed out loud when I did my victory dance."

Laughed out loud? No, she'd groaned in mock horror as he'd strutted his stuff around the court. In true sports-hero style, he'd ripped off his shirt, fallen to his knees at the foot of her chair, held his hands up in triumph and howled as he leaned back until his head touched the ground.

Her groan had quickly changed to one of stifled desire as his chest glistened in the sunlight, the six-pack above his stomach displayed in sheer male arrogance. It was all she could do not to jump him then and there.

She'd waited a couple of hours until Steve had gone to sleep.

For the Love of Readers

If there is one thing that any writer loves, it’s her readers. Without readers, we’d be nothing.

Last summer I did a series of library talks, and during one of these I had the pleasure of meeting a super sweet, sixteen-year-old reader named Katy. She said she and her mother, Elizabeth, had read all my books and were huge fans. I liked her immediately. :) Katy is an aspiring author and illustrator, and even brought me the cutest laminated drawing of Maddie, the main character in my High Heels books! Isn’t she adorable?

Photobucket

Since then, I’ve seen a few more of Katy’s drawings, and she is incredibly talented! I’m seriously jealous, nothing I’ve ever drawn is half as cool as her stuff. Here’s a poster she did for a contest at the local library (She won!):

Photobucket

And here’s a drawing she did a couple weeks ago when she and her mom were forced to sleep in their car:

Photobucket

Yep, you read that right – Katy and her mom are homeless. They were evicted from their apartment just before Christmas and have been living in hotel rooms (when they’ve been lucky) or their car (when they’ve not been so lucky) since then. Katy has been blogging about life on the streets, and you can read all about how this incredibly sweet mother and daughter ended up in this situation here:

Photobucket

As Katy states on her blog, "Homelessness has many faces. And sometimes it happens to have a computer." Both Katy and her mother seem to have very positive outlooks, but it’s clear they’re in some real trouble.

Which is where we come in. I’ve teamed up with Haven Rich at Romantic Inks to put together an auction to help get Katy and her mom back on their feet. We’ve got tons of great stuff up for bid including agent and published author manuscript critiques, website design services, tarot readings, artwork, jewelry, handmade quilts, collectibles, toys, gift baskets, and tons and tons of autographed books.

I’m personally auctioning off the chance to name a character in my next book, SCANDAL SHEET, after the person of the winner’s choice. And my fabulous editor, Leah Hultenschmidt at Dorchester Publishing, is auctioning a 1/2 hour phone call to pitch or ask her anything about publishing! How cool is that?!
The auction will run January 19-26th. To see all the items up for bid, just got to: www.romanticinks.com/auction

So, feel free to blog about the auction, tell your friends, spread the word, and come bid generously on a ton of really great stuff to help out two really wonderful people!

Blurb: Daisy Drake will do anything to help Lucian Beaumont restore his family’s lost fortune. Even if she has to masquerade as a French courtesan in order to fool him into accepting her help. But how far must she go to prove she’s Blanch La Tour, “woman of pleasure?” She’s about to find out.

Excerpt: Vexing the Viscount

"Nanette will be bringing a bite of supper for us soon," Daisy informed him. "I do hope you have an appetite."

"That, mademoiselle, is not in doubt."

Lucian's rakish grin told her food was the last thing on his mind. She opened the deck of cards and executed a perfect shuffle. Holding the cards felt safe, as though the fifty-two thin pieces of paper were somehow shields.

"You would perhaps enjoy a game while we wait?" she asked.

"Only if it's a game of chance," he said.

"And what will you wager?" Daisy wondered. If his financial state was as bad as she thought, gambling was not the wisest course.

"Right now, you and I are partners in my search for the Roman treasure, split in half when we find it," he said. "For each hand I lose, one percent more of the money we find will be yours."

"Ah! And if I lose, that one percent shifts to you," Daisy guessed.

"No." A slow smile spread across his face. "I'll take my winnings now in satin."

"How do you mean?" she asked, thankful he couldn't see her puzzled frown behind the half-mask.

Lucian reached forward and gave the top ribbon on her camisole a tug. The knot gave and her bodice sagged open enough to bare the meeting place of her breasts above her pounding heart.

"Do we have a wager?" he asked. "Or are you afraid you'll lose?"

A true fille de joie wouldn't be able to resist such a naughty game.

"Ah! Monsieur le Vicomte, either way, I win." Daisy shuffled the cards with more bravado than she felt and dealt the hand.

She lost the first round and with resignation, started to untie the next ribbon.

"No, no," he said. "Allow me."

Very slowly, he pulled the end of the bow and Daisy felt her supportive camisole give a bit. More of her breasts spilled out. Still not as much as he'd already seen that first night at the masquerade, but enough that the heat of his gaze made her skin flush rosily.

And between her legs, her folds began to ache. She shifted on her seat, but nothing eased the throbbing.

Before he drew his hand back, he pushed the edges of the satin camisole aside, brushing her exposed skin with his fingertips as he did so. Now her nipples were scarcely covered. In fact, if the hard little points weren't holding up the fabric, she'd be bared already.

Another lost hand, or even a deep breath, and . . .

"There," he said. "Much better. No point in unfastening that contraption if the blasted thing stays in place."

"We did not wager on touching. Merely on satin," Daisy reminded him.

"Perhaps we should amend the wager then," he said. "When I win, I may touch whatever I see."

Lucian drew his knuckles softly over the swell of her breast. A jolt of heat lightning streaked to her belly and stayed to simmer in an ever tightening circle of warmth.

"Then we should adjust the wager the other way as well," she said. "How shall you feel if I lay claim to your breeches buttons with each hand that falls my way?"

He chuckled. "Ah! Mademoiselle La Tour, either way, I win."
